I’ve been a huge fan of Young the Giant since I started listening to their music so when I had the chance to create some portrait work with them I jumped at the opportunity. They were coming into the Bay Area so I reached out to their management to see if we could set a portrait session of the band and they were down.
On the day I arrived at the arena with my assistant, we were given a total of 15 minutes with the band so I wanted to take full advantage of the time and shoot a few different styles with the band to get a range of imagery. I ended up going with a classic portrait look, a more experimental dragged look, and shot polaroid of each of the members as well. The guys seemed energized to shoot and gave me extra time to work with them and capture some great portraits of them. I’ve always enjoyed their music so I felt as it was my duty to create imagery that gave the band the respect I felt for them as artists. Here’s the collection of images.
Polaroid Scans of the band members.
They also gave me an artists pass to be able to capture their live set that evening.
